Since 2001 I have been making gingerbread graham cracker houses with these amazing ladies. The tradition all began at one of our annual Winter OSU rowing training camps in Sacramento, California. Determined not to let the long training hours, restless nights in hotel rooms, and lack of family suck the Christmas spirit out of our lives, Amber (our coxswain) organized a graham cracker house activity. We’ve been getting hopped up on candy and icing ever since.
So, apparently my graham cracker house construction skills were lacking this year and I required some assistance from Sciarrino and Tex. I will say, however, my mess making skills are above par.

As always, our candy dinner was followed by an all out, no holds barred game of Secret Santa.
Alas, I must say a special thanks to my homegirl, sewing-sista extraordinaire, Amber for organizing another splendid crew infused event. Oh and I mustn’t forget to thank Sciarrino for remembering to bring the camera and sharing her photos.
Graham crackers? Really? The houses turned out great! Looks like you all were having way too much fun.
This time I bought kits
they were gingerbread. And for $5 a kit I’m doing the same thing next year!
Oh yes, I completely forgot to mention that this year we switched from graham crackers to gingerbread making kits. I was looking at the photograph of all our houses together and you can tell the crew girls are moving up in the world of ginger-houses. Our homes are getting larger and now it looks like we’re in a gingerbread neighborhood with an HOA! Funny stuff.
So much fun, one of my favorite nights of be year for sure!
